CardBus/PCMCIA Driver Installation
(Windows XP PCMCIA Installation Guide)

Make sure that all cables are properly connected and the drive has power
-
If you are using the Mobile drives, make sure that the power brick has a steady
green light.
-
Boot your computer to Windows.
-
Plug in the PCMCIA cable to the Computer's PCMCIA Socket/Port.
-
Windows should now find a new hardware and install the default driver
automatically.
-
If everything work out ok you should now see a CDROM icon from your windows
explorer.
-
Device manager should look like this below:
-
PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI Controller will be the default driver that Windows XP will
load. Under DVD/CD-ROM drives, you should see an additional device.
-
If for some reason you did not see an additional device or your device manager
looks like the picture below, follow the Addonics Drivers installation below:

Double click on the PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI Controller.
-
Go to the DRIVER tab then click on UPDATE DRIVER.

Click the second radio button or select the ADVANCED button then click Next.
-
Select the "Don't Search. I will Choose the driver to install" option then
click Next.
-
Click on the HAVE DISK button to continue.

-
Click browse to locate the DRIVER FILES.

-
Browse to the Floppy Drive then open the win2000 folder.
-
Select the Addonics PCMCIA.......then click NEXT.
-
Click the "Continue Anyway" to proceed.

-
Let the OS install the Driver and that's it. Click Finish.

-
Click YES to restart the Computer if prompted and that's it.
For Windows 95, 98, SE and ME
(Do not run the SETUP program from the driver disk, SETUP is for DOS or WIN 3.1
only)

Power on your system and wait for the Desktop screen.
-
Connect the CardBus/PCMCIA cable and external AC/DC adapter into the back of
your Drive.
-
Plug the CardBus/PCMCIA card end of the cable into the PCMCIA slot on the side
of your computer.
-
The system will automatically identify the new card and ask to load the driver.
-
Insert the driver diskette in "A" drive and follow the instruction on the
screen to load "Addonics Cardbus IDE Controller" or "Addonics PCMCIA IDE
Controller". All drivers and necessary files are located in the driver diskette
under the sub-directory WINDOW9x. Be sure to select the A:/window 9x folder
when the system prompts for the location of driver disk.

When finished installation, a PCMCIA card icon will appear in the lower
right-hand of the Window's Task Bar.

Double Click on the "My Computer" icon. Your Mobile CDRW will appear as a CD
drive icon. You are now ready to use the drive.
PCMCIA Installation for Windows NT

Go to Start\Settings\Control Panel.
-
Double Click SCSI adapter icon.
-
Click on the Driver Tab.
-
Click Add to add new driver.
-
Follow wizard and browse to A:\NT folder for the Driver.
-
Select "Addonics PCMCIA..." then click ok.
-
Windows will prompt you for driver location again. To continue, type in "A:\NT"
then click continue.
-
Click YES to restart your computer.
Note: You must insert the PCMCIA cable when system is off.
CardBus/PCMCIA Installation for Windows 2000

Make sure your computer is up and running
-
Verify that all cables are connected and there is power to the drive.
-
Insert the CardBus/PCMCIA cable to the PCMCIA socket.
-
A "New Hardware Found" message shall pops up.
-
Select "Next" to continue installation.
-
Select "Search for a suitable driver...." button and select "Next".
-
In "select a Device Driver page", select "Have Disk" to specify location. Enter
path like A:\win2000" Select "Addonics CardBus.... or Addonics PCMCIA...."
click YES for the Windows warning message and let Win2000 to finish the
Installation and that's it.

Double Click on the "My Computer" icon. Your Mobile CDRW will appear as a CD
drive icon. You are now ready to use the CDRW drive.
Alternative Installation Procedure for Sony and Sharp Notebook Users
If you encountered system locked up using our standard installation
procedures (most common with Window 98 SE, Sharp and Sony Notebook computers
and computers with Ricoh Cardbus/PCMCIA Controller), please try to reinstall
using the procedures outlined below:

Before installing the CardBus driver, make sure the CardBus is not inserted
into the PC Card slot.

Boot up the system and insert the CardBus driver diskette into Floppy Drive A.

Click on the START button, then Settings and open the Control Panel.
-
Click on the ADD NEW HARDWARE icon.
-
Click NEXT and NEXT again, the screen will say Windows Will Now Search FOR PNP
DEVICES, DO YOU WANT WINDOWS TO SEARCH.

Choose NO, I WANT TO SELECT THE HARDWARE FROM A LIST
-
Click NEXT.
-
Select HARD DISK CONTROLLERS from the hardware list9. Click NEXT, and then
click HAVE DISK.
-
Type A:\Window9x, then click OK.
-
Highlight ADDONICS CARDBUS IDE CONTROLLER, then click FINISH.
-
Shut down the system. Reboot the system with the CardBus inserted Inside the PC
CARD slot. Make sure the DVD drive is connected to the Other end of the CardBUS
cable and the Drive is powered on.

The initialization of the DVD drive may take up to 40 seconds. During this
time, mouse moving may be sluggish.After completing the Initialization, a new
CD ROM drive icon should appear in the My Computer. You are now ready to use
the DVD drive.
