Looking for a high performance external storage device with expandable capacity and RAID capability? The Z family of Disk Array storage is just the perfect solution. Utilizing the latest SATA technologies, the Z Disk Array offers the fastest external storage performance with data throughput up to 3Gbps via either a single eSATA or Multilane connection to a computer. By integrating the Addonics latest 2.5" Snap-In Disk Array or the 2.5" Disk Array 4SA with a SATA Port Multiplier or Multilane connector into the the compact Z drive enclosure, up to 4 SATA hard drives or SSDs can be installed to the Z Disk Array via the 4 convenient removable drive trays. You can swap drives in and out of the Z Disk Array, just like using tape cassette. You can also start with as little as 1 hard drive and expand to 2, 3 or 4 drives to meet the need of your application.
When connecting the Z Disk Array to an eSATA or Multilane RAID controller, the 4 hard drive inside the Disk Array can be set up as a RAID set, combined together to form 1 large volume hard drive or use as 4 independent drives. The eSATA connection can also converted to the latest USB 3.0 connection using the optional USB 3.0 - eSATA adapter. Constructed in a light weight sturdy aluminum housing with an integrated cooling fan for efficient heat dissipation, the Z Disk Array is a great portable storage solution for a wide range of applications that demand high performance and large amount of storage out in the field.

(1) Serial ATA hot swap feature works only with controllers basing on Silicon Image chip set from our in house testing. Other controllers that are not Silicon Image based may not support hot swap. You may consider adding one of the Addonics Serial ATA host controllers to your systems to ensure the hot swap capability. New controllers from Intel and other suppliers may finally support this feature. Please verify with your controller manufacturer if you need to have hot swap in your application. Hot swap is supported in Windows 2000 and XP only. On other OS, drive can be removed without crashing system. But replacing with a different drive can result in crashing the OS.

*Note: It is common in RAID5 configuration that the WRITE speed performs slower than READ. Depending on system hardware, the WRITE performance can drop to 25% of the READ speed. This performance difference does not affect general database application where majority of the translations are READ commands. For applications that require large files transfer or continuous writing of data on the the hard drive such as video editing, RAID5 configuration may not be desirable.
