* Serial ATA hot swap feature works only with controllers basing on Silicon Image chip set from our in house testing. Other controllers that are not Silicon Image based may not support hot swap. You may consider adding one of the Addonics Serial ATA host controllers to your systems to ensure the hot swap capability. New controllers from Intel and other suppliers may finally support this feature. Please verify with your controller manufacturer if you need to have hot swap in your application. Hot swap is supported in Windows 2000 and XP only. On other OS, drive can be removed without crashing system. But replacing with a different drive can result in crashing the OS.
** Zebra Snap-In Mobile Rack with eSATA / USB 2.0 interface (ZSNESU) is only able to hot swap using the snap in key lock power switch through the USB connection. The eSATA connection will require disconnection and reconnection of the eSATA cable for the drive to be recognized or properly removed from the system.

11/09 "The latest addition to my stack of tricks is a drive holder that fits into an empty drive bay on my PC. Install the Snap-In SATA Mobile Rack, a ten-minute project, and then hot-swap SATA drives. It's just like using a floppy: Pop in the drive and wait for Windows XP to discover it."

"The concept behind this product(AESNAPMRSA) is as simple as it is powerful: this isn't just another solution to swap hard drives easily. It also allows the user to treat her or his hard drives as if they were removable media by mounting them like optical SATA drives"

3/19 "Business users often work with confidential files, and software applications often have license agreements that are violated when multiple people can access them. Because it allows multiple users to share a system without having to share the data or operating system, those problems are solved with the Snap-In SATA Mobile Rack." |
