The Mobile Rack25 is one of few removable hard drive kit in the market for 2.5" hard drive. It turns practically any 2.5" IDE hard drive instantly into a removable IDE hard drive or a hot swappable Serial ATA hard drive in any desktop computer or equipment. With the Serial ATA option, you can use the hard drive like a drive cartridge, without the need to reboot the system when you remove or insert the hard drive into the drive bay. The enclosure, when is removed from the drive cradle, can also be connected to any computer as an external hard drive using one of the Addonics optional interface cables - USB2.0, Firewire, PCMCIA or Serial ATA.

To provide shock protection against the hard drive and ruggedness as well as support for 2.5" SATA hard drive, a new Jupiter series has been introduced that features tough anodized aluminum housing, shock mount and choice of hardware encryption. (1) Serial ATA hot swap feature works only with controllers basing on Silicon Image chip set from our inhouse testing. Other controllers that are not Silicon Image based may not support hot swap. You may consider adding one of the Addonics Serial ATA host controllers to your systems to ensure the hot swap capability. New controllers from Intel and other suppliers may finally support this feature. Please verify with your controller manufacturer if you need to have hot swap in your application. Hot swap is supported in Windows 2000, XP, and Vista only. On other OS, drive can be removed without crashing system. But replacing with a different drive can result in crashing the OS.
Requires optional IDE to Serial ATA converter to use as a removable Serial ATA hard drive.
