PCI-X controller
The Addonics SATA II PCI-X family of controllers are one
of the fastest SATA controllers in the market. Incorporating the latest
SATA II ASIC from Silicon Image, the controller is designed to work with
fast PCI-X BUS to ensure maximum data throughput of 3 Gbits/sec per port.
The standard RAID controller allow 4 SATA/ SATA II hard drives to be configured
as RAID 1, RAID 0, RAID 1+0, RAID 1+S or as 4 individual drives. Whereas
the RAID5/JBOD controller supports configuration of RAID 1, RAID 0, RAID
1+0, RAID5 and JBOD that combine all drives into one large volume.
With 4 drive are stripped together (configured as RAID 0),
throughput up to 200 Mbytes/sec can be achieved using standard 7,000 RPM
SATA hard drive (see benchmark test result below).
Together with the Addonics optional Disk
Array 4SA or 3SA system, you can add high performance storage system
rivaling the traditional SCSI storage at less than half of the cost.

*Note: It is common in RAID5 configuration that the WRITE speed performs
slower than READ. Depending on system hardware, the WRITE performance
can drop to 25% of the READ speed. This performance difference does not
affect general database application where majority of the transations
are READ commands. For applications that require large files transfer or continuous writing of
data on the the hard drive such as video editing, RAID5 configuration
may not be desirable.
