This economical .eSATA controller instantly adds 2 external SATA ports to desktop system via a standard PCI slot. Each port, supporting maximum 150Mbyest/sec data transfers, is equipped with the latest eSATA connector for improved external connectivity and reliability. For added convenience, this controller also comes with a built-in mini DIN power connector on the bracket. Using the Addonics optional power cables, any standard 3.5" hard drive, including Addonics External SATA hard drives and Drive Cartridge Systems, can be powered from the Desktop computer via the mini DIN power port.

Part number and Pricing

Since the eSATA connector on this adapter is new to the market, connecting cable with this new connector may not be readily available. Addonics offers a complete cabling solution for External SATA applications. All Addonics external SATA cables are constructed with metal clips on the connectors for reliable repetitive insertion and tighter connection needed for external application. These cables are also heavily shield and wired to increase EMI protection and ensure SATA signal integrity in external application over a 2 meter distance.

Option 1: External SATA (eSATA) - SATA converter cable (model AASA2SAP15C, 15 cm.) plus External SATA data cable (model AASAEDC3F, 100 cm.)

The 15 cm. cable (AASA2SAP15C) converts the new eSATA connector back to standard SATA External connector plug. Together with the standard 100 cm. External SATA cable (AASAEDC3F), SATA storage device can then be connected to this controller. This combination gives the flexibility of connecting any external SATA device , to this eSATA controller or *PVR/Set Top Box to the standard SATA ports that are commonly found in most of today's SATA equipped systems.

Option 2: eSATA - SATA cable (AASA2SA100C, 100 cm.)

One end of this cable has the new eSATA connector for connecting to this eSATA controller, *PVR or Set Top Box. The opposite end has the the current standard SATA connector for connecting to SATA hard drive or other Addonics external SATA storage devices.

*At the present time, some PVRs (a few models from TiVo) and Set Top Boxes are equipped with this new eSATA connector.
