As an External Hard Drive, the Combo Hard Drive25 can be connected to
any computer or equipment via USB 1.1, USB 2.0, Firewire,
or eSATA interface or other future interface standards. All is needed
is to attach the appropriate Addonics interface cable to the back of the
Pocket ExDrive enclosure. By installing the Pocket ExDrive drive cradle
that comes with the package into a 3.5" drive bay, you can use the
Combo Hard Drive as a removable IDE hard drive. You can also attach the
Addonics IDE-Serial ATA converter to the Drive Cradle and turn it into
a high performance hot swappable Serial ATA hard drive. It does not stop
here, you can also pair up two Combo Hard Drive25 or mix and match with
the Combo
Hard Drive II kits and turn them into a high performance RAID system.
To provide shock protection against the hard drive and ruggedness as well as support for 2.5" SATA hard drive, a new Jupiter series has been introduced that features tough anodized aluminum housing, shock mount and choice of hardware encryption. Please visit the Jupiter drive kit section for more detail.

(1) Serial ATA
hot swap feature works only with controllers basing on Silicon Image chip set
from our inhouse testing. Other controllers that are not Silicon Image based may
not support hot swap. You may consider adding one of the Addonics Serial ATA host controllers to your systems to ensure the hot swap
capability. New controllers from Intel and other suppliers may finally support
this feature. Please verify with your controller manufacturer if you need to have
hot swap in your application. Hot swap is supported in Windows 2000 and XP only.
On other OS, drive can be removed without crashing system. But replacing with
a different drive can result in crashing the OS.

Note:
1. Some Notebook may not provide adequate power through the PCMCIA slot
or USB port to power the external hard drive. The 4-pin Firewire port,
also commonly known as DV port or iLink port, does not provide power to
external device.
* Addonics has successfully tested
the Pocket ExDrive using Direct power or BUS Power from USB, PCMCIA or
Firewire or PSII port on various brands of Notebook and Desktop computers.
It is recommended that you choose a hard drive that is rated with 500
mA or less to ensure reliable operation using BUS power. In any case,
Addonics does not guarantee the Pocket ExDrive to work with just the BUS
power as the amount of power from these different ports do vary from different
system manufacturers. iLink is the Sony Firewire standard and does not
provide power to the peripheral device. Check with your system manufacturer
for detail specification of your Firewire port.
