The new Addonics Technologies Pocket DVD™ is the "go anywhere" DVD-ROM
Drive that connects to any PC through the FireWire or USB port. It's compact enough for any briefcase or notebook
PC case, measuring only 5.62 x 5.31 x 0.87 inches and weighing less than
14 ounces. The Pocket DVD™ allows users to access DVD information or movies
on their notebook or sub-notebook PCs.
As DVD becomes the industry standard (replacing CD-ROM), notebook users
will want to upgrade to take advantage of DVD's benefits. The Pocket DVD™,
with it's PC Card interface, gives current users DVD capability without
the cost of upgrading to a new high-end notebook.
The Pocket DVD™ can be powered* by your notebook
PC (through the PC card slot using FireWire port or USB port)
or through the included small AC Power Adapter which automatically switches
from 110 to 240 volt operation, making the Pocket DVD the perfect traveling
companion. It has a fast maximum data transfer rate of 10,800 Kbytes per
second for the (8X) DVD mode and 3600 Kbytes per second (24x) in CD-ROM
mode. It has a front panel-loading tray for easy access with no cartridges
or caddies to worry about.
The Pocket DVD™ is the perfect accessory for the mobile professional
who needs access to CD or DVD based information anywhere. It's compact,
lightweight, portable, versatile, and fast.

† Addonics has successfully tested
the Pocket DVD using Direct power from PCMCIA, USB or Firewire ports on
various brands of Notebook and Desktop computers. However, Addonics does
not guarantee the Pocket DVD to work with power directly from the computers
as the power from the connecting ports varies from different system manufacturers.
iLink is the Sony Firewire standard and does not provide power to the
peripheral device. Check with your system manufacturer for detail specification
of your Firewire port. When using CardBus/PCMCIA-USIB interface, only the PCMCIA
mode can provide direct power to the drive. However, operating in PCMCIA
model reduces the performance of the drive and results in lower frame
rate in playing DVD movie. The alternative is to use the Ac/DC power adapter
or the included USB power cable to get power from the computer to the
drive when operating the interface cable in CardBus mode.
