The USB 3.0 to eSATA Mini Adapter is the simplest solution for connecting any eSATA storage device to the latest USB 3.0 (Superspeed) or the ubiquitous USB 2.0 port on any Notebook, Desktop, server or computing equipment. This adapter does not require any driver or special software and is powered directly from the USB port. The small size makes this adapter a handy accessory for wide range of storage applications.

* In order to install drive size over 2TB, the OS must support GPT drive partition in standard 512 bytes sector. All modern OS such as Windows 7 and later, Mac OS X or the latest LInux Kernel support GPT drive partition and should use the standard model ADU3ESAM

For older Windows XP system that does not support GPT drive partition, the hard drive over 2TB must be partitioned in MBR with 4K sector. In this case, you will need to use the model ADU3ESAM-X. However Linux and Mac OS do not support drive with 4K partition. So this will limit the drive to be used in the Windows XP system only. Drive partitioned in 4K sector will not work with any Addonics NAS adapters as all these devices use Linux OS.
