The 5X1 External Port Multiplier (EPM) is the ideal solution for attaching large numbers of external hard drives to a computer. Designed with the same ASIC as the Addonics field proven 5X1 Rack Mounted PM, this EPM can connect up to 5 external eSATA hard drives to any system via one eSATA port. The 5 external hard drives can be configured as RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 or combined as 1 large volume or appear as 5 individual drives to the system. When used in conjunction with one of the Addonics 4-port eSATA controllers, a whooping 20 hard drives can be instantly attached to your system externally using 4 EPMs.
The hot swap capability of the EPM also allows external hard drives to be conveniently attached or removed from the system on the fly while the system continues operating. The EPM is constructed in a heavy gauge metal housing with ventilation on the side for efficient heat dissipation. Comes with convenient mounting hole on the bottom and a small power adapter, the EPM can install easy in various computing environment

* External eSATA Port Multiplier requires connection to a PM(Port Multiplier) compatible eSATA controller. Check with your system supplier to confirm the PM support on your existing SATA port. Port Multiplier may require a utility to configure the drives to be seen inside the operating system.
Seagate FreeAgent eSATA hard drive is not compatible with this EPM at this time.
