File system
One of the biggest improvements in NAS 3.0 is the type of File System support. Any USB storage with NTFS or exFAT File System can now be attached directly to this new NAS adapter. There is no special drive preparation needed. Hard drives with existing data can now be attached to the NAS 3.0 adapter and becomes shareable immediately. Drive volumes as large as 256TB under NTFS or a whopping 128PB under exFAT can now be added to the network. When used in conjunction with Addonics RAID Tower or RAID Rack, storage capacity in excess of 50 TeraBytes can be easily added to the LAN or WAN.
WebDAV server - your private cloud storage
The WebDAV server in the NAS 3.0 adapter is the latest development in serving data over the internet. WebDAV is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol that allows a web server to appear as a standard network drive. As of 2009, many new Operating Systems come built-in with WebDAV client support. Free Apps are also available to add WebDAV client to iPhone and Android phones. Using the WebDAV client software, data stored in the WebDAV server can be accessed anywhere via an internet connection, like having your private cloud storage. Once your WebDAV client is set up, any folder in the WebDAV server can be mapped to a drive letter. WebDAV servers also works like a web server. Any web browser can directly open HTML or ASP files stored in the WebDAV server via the internet. For more detail information of the WebDAV protocol, please visit the following web page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebDAV.

Instant data sharing
The NAS 3.0 adapter also allows instant sharing of data stored on USB storage device with NTFS or FAT file system. Once you have the NAS 3.0 adapter set up on the network and an USB storage attached to the USB storage port, any additional USB storage device attached to the printer port on the NAS 3.0 adapter becomes available to all network users. Every folder and file in the USB storage connected to the printer port is accessible for download or viewing over the LAN or WAN. There is no authentication or user account set up required. For more detail on this feature, review attaching USB storage to printer port in the Q and A section.
