The Compact RAID is one of the smallest most versatile storage appliances on the market. It weighs just a little over a pound and is roughly the size of a 4" cube. Despite its compact size, the Compact RAID is packed with the power, features and capabilities equivalent to many large RAID storage devices that are 2 - 3 times more expensive.
The Compact RAID can accomodate as many as five 2.5" hard drives or SSDs. The drives can be easily added or removed from the unit like a tape cartridge without the need for any special tools. RAID configurations are set via a simple dip switch on the back of the unit. With a built-in powerful RAID engine and high speed eSATA connnection, the Compact RAID can deliver a screaming throughput up to 300 Mbytes/sec.
The Compact RAID is fully OS independent. It can be connected to any computer running Windows, Linux or Mac OS. The eSATA port can also be converted to a USB 3.0/2.0 connection with the Addonics optional USB 3.0 - eSATA adapter. The power and the small size of the Compact RAID makes it an ideal high performance RAID storage solution that applies varieties of applications, particularly in a mobile environment or for situations with a limited amount of space or power.

* Individual drive configuration is available only when connecting to controllers with Silicon Image Sil3124, Sil3132 chip set or controllers that are PM compatible. Please confirm with your system supplier if you need this feature and plan to connect to your system SATA/eSATA port
