Device Links Seven Memory-Card Formats To PC
USB Pocket DigiDrive Needs No Power Supply
(Hardware
Central
) -- Sept. 18, 2001 -- With today's array of flash-memory formats for storing
digital camera images, MP3 music files, or PDA or digital voice recorder data,
moving files between your mobile device and desktop or notebook PC can be a
chore. Addonics Technologies has the cure in its Pocket DigiDrive, an 11-ounce
USB device that supports no fewer than seven digital media formats:
CompactFlash I and II, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, IBM Microdrive, MultiMedia
Card, and Secure Digital Card.
The 4 by 5.5 by 1-inch DigiDrive has no moving parts, and draws its minimal
electric power from the computer's USB 1.1 or 2.0 port (no AC adapter
required). It features a read/write speed of 1MB per second, with support for
Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP. Once the drive is installed, an icon for each
type of media automatically appears in Windows' My Computer folder.
Also compatible with Mac OS 8.6 or higher and Linux kernel 2.4 or higher, the
Pocket DigiDrive costs $89 including a USB cable and software.
